To make it easier to travel between NH-48 and the Dwarka Expressway, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) plans to rehabilitate two important arterial routes, one 4.9 km long stretch between IFFCO Chowk and Mahavir Chowk, and another 6.5 km long stretch from the old railway road to the Dwarka Expressway.
In order to improve and upgrade the roadways from IFFCO Chowk to the Dwarka Expressway, the development authority has already put out a call for bids. A top GMDA official stated, “We are intending to reconstruct approximately 11 km of roads, the majority of which are in terrible condition, and it will be done in two sections.
Our goal is to offer alternate connections, particularly to those entering the city via Jhajjar, so that ancient Gurgaon receives better connectivity as soon as feasible. Currently, the majority of commuters use the Hero Honda Chowk after passing under the Basai Flyover.
At the Authority’s 48th core planning committee meeting in October of last year, the proposal to rebuild the roadways from IFFCO Chowk to the Dwarka Expressway was approved.
The official noted that further methods, such as on-street parking, will be investigated in addition to overlaying treatment and reinforcement of roads to reduce traffic in the city.
We are hiring a consultant to create a DPR for the work, which will study actual traffic and provide on-street parking, central borders, and service roads. All potential expansions to this route that ease traffic will be considered.
The move to renovate the important sections of old Gurgaon has been praised by the locals. It’s encouraging that the authorities are now paying attention to this stretch of road, which is not only busy but also has some severely deteriorated patches.
It will undoubtedly result in seamless traffic movement if they are able to address the encroachment issue, according to Sector 14 resident and social activist Kalyan Singh Sharma.
The GMDA has to work on enhancing traffic mobility, according to Suraj Bhola, general secretary of the Sector 9A RWA. It shouldn’t only be improving; the main attention should be placed on road design, which will serve to ease traffic jams rather than add to the chaos.
He claimed that daily commuters are frequently caught in traffic blockages close to the Kaman Sarai police station during rush hour.
