The Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry has blacklisted two firms involved in the ill-fated NBCC Green View project in Gurgaon, barring them from receiving any work from the ministry for two years for substandard work.
Supreme Infrastructure India Ltd and Ramacivil Construction Pvt Ltd have also been barred from receiving work from the ministry’s attached entities, autonomous bodies, and Central Public Sector Enterprises.
IIT, Delhi declared the NBCC Green View building in Sector-37D unsafe, and residents were asked to vacate their apartments. The National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) informed the housing ministry that these two companies had used substandard workmanship resulting in poor quality building and causing problems for NBCC homebuyers.
Following that, the ministry issued show cause notices, requesting an explanation for why the companies should be barred from doing business with the ministry. After receiving responses from these firms and reviewing the NBCC’s submissions and the expert committee’s report, the ministry issued an order to backlist the companies until March 29, 2025.
Residents Of Gurugram NBCC Green View Demand An Immediate Refund From NBCC
On May 25, tenants of the NBCC Green View project in Gurugram met with Gurugram Deputy Commissioner Nishant Yadav and presented a letter and asking for immediate refund for their unsafe flats as well as the filing a FIR against the developer for risking their lives.
They also demanded that the administration blacklist the National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) and make the IIT-Roorkee report available to residents. The affected homebuyers also demanded that rent be paid at the rate of Rs 22.5 per sq ft rather than Rs 12.55, and urged the department to direct NBCC to pay advance rent for an additional 11 months.
As many as 85 homebuyers from NBCC’s Gurugram project ‘Green View’ were forced to vacate their properties after they were deemed unsafe. They have sought a refund of the amount invested, plus 15% interest, registration and interior decoration costs, as well as Rs 25 lakh for mental anguish suffered by them and their families.
