Two additional Metro lines in Gurugram have been approved by HMRTC. The new lines will link Golf Course Extension Road to Sector 5 and Bhondsi to the Gurgaon Railway station.

According to people with knowledge of the situation, the Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) has authorized two additional Metro routes in Gurugram on Sunday.

According to them, the decision will lead to a significant push for Metro rail extension in the city, bringing the system to heavily inhabited neighborhoods and tying them into important economic districts.

The First Line From Bhondsi Village To Gurugram Railway Station

The 57th board meeting of HMRTC held in Chandigarh, which was chaired by chief secretary TVSN Prasad, approved the two Metro routes on August 6: one is Bhondsi village to Gurugram train station and other connects Golf Course Extension Road to Sector 5.

A senior company official said that, “HMRTC will soon hire consultants to prepare detailed project reports for these two routes,” under the condition of anonymity.

According to the source, the first proposed route would be 17 km long and travel via Vatika Chowk, Subash Chowk, Rajiv Chowk, Sadar Bazar, and the Gurugram bus terminal. It would go from Bhondsi village to the Gurugram railway station.

The Another Line Connects Golf Course Extension Road To Sector 5

According to the official, the new route would mostly follow Sohna Road and link to the previously approved Metro extension line from Millennium City Centre Metro station at the Gurugram railway station as well as the projected Delhi-Gurugram-Alwar RRTS line at Rajiv Chowk junction.

The second route, meanwhile, would run 13 kilometers and link Sector 5 to Golf Course Extension Road. Along the way, it will stop at several locations, including Atul Kataria Chowk, Signature Tower crossing, Rana Pratap Chowk, and Millennium City Centre Metro station. The official stated that this path will follow Sheetla Mata Road.

Yash Sachdeva, the mobility consultant for the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), responded to a question concerning the suggested routes by stating that they are a component of the authority’s plan to build a substantial Metro network all over the city by 2031.

These Two Lines Will Be Made Under Gurugram Metro Extension Project

The city’s main populous sections and important commercial centers are served by these two routes. Once these routes are operational, a significant number of individuals will be connected. The RRTS network along the national highway and the ongoing Gurugram metro extension project would be connected to the network on these routes, he added.

A significant portion of the city will be connected to the metro system after the 28.5km Metro extension project from Millennium City Centre to Cyber Hub is completed, which was founded by the Haryana government last year through the establishment of the Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL), a special purpose company.
