Renovation work on two major access road, Galleria Market and Vyapar Kendra, is expected to begin in February. Government permission for the project was granted last week, and GMDA officials stated that a work order will be issued shortly.

The one-way sections of these highways will be changed to two-way sections. The renovation will also involve redesigning, bike tracks and walkways being built, strengthened, and widened.

Although the reconstruction work has been set a 12-month deadline by the metropolitan authority, authorities stated that they want to complete the project by the end of this year.

The GMDA Will Approve Rs 44.1 Crore For The Renovation Project

The GMDA would have to pay about Rs 21.7 crore for the revamp of Galleria Market Road and Rs 22.4 crore for the reconstruction of Vyapar Kendra Road.

As part of the project, GMDA will enlarge the current section to six lanes, allowing traffic to flow in both directions along the center verge.

“A powerful purchase committee approved the project, and we will shortly assign the agency the work.” By year’s end, we hope to have finished the upgrading work, a senior GMDA official stated.

Stretches of around 2.1 km are lined by a multitude of residential condominiums, planned communities, premium stores, and commercial buildings that serve the heavy traffic flow.

How These Linking Roads Will Help In Traffic Decongestion?

Golf Course Road and August Kranti Marg are connected by Galleria Market Road, but Vyapar Kendra Road is a crucial link that carries traffic from the Dwarka Expressway to Golf Course Road via Hero Honda Chowk, Subhash Chowk, and the Millennium City Center intersection.

In March of last year, the plan to reconstruct these two sections was accepted. Additionally, 1.8-meter-wide continuous walkways and 2.5-meter-wide bike tracks will be developed. Parking facilities for both locals and visitors will be provided, with a 533-car capacity on Galleria Market Road and 650-car capacity on Vyapar Kendra Road.

A Sreenivas has been appointed as the new GMDA chief, according to a Haryana administrative reshuffle announced by the Gurgaon administration. Sreenivas, an IAS officer from the 2004 batch, will take over as GMDA’s CEO.

He has worked on several development initiatives and has prior experience in the Haryana cadre. Sreenivas will be in charge of enhancing the public infrastructure of the city in his capacity as new head. Residents are concerned that the government’s choice to designate the same person for both MCG and GMDA might impede growth.

Some Other Major Connectivity Roads Will Be Upgraded By NHAI

The 10-lane Ballari Road would be connected to the projected Bengaluru-Chennai expressway by widening from Devanahalli to the Andhra Pradesh boundary on National Highway-44. The Devanahalli to Kurnool road is being upgraded by NHAI, with a six-lane main carriageway and two-lane service roads.

The objective of this project is to improve traffic congestion, remove blackspots, and accommodate more vehicles on the routes that lead to Bengaluru. The enlarged route will be connected to the Satellite Town Ring route (STRR), giving lorries approaching from Tumakuru Road direct access to NH-44.

After a four-year break, the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (Auda) has brought back the idea build six-lane the 76-kilometer Sardar Patel Ring Road. The goal of the Rs 200 crore road expansion project is to replace the existing 8.5 m wide lanes with 12.5 m wide lanes.

In addition to installing new storm water pipes and constructing a promenade alongside them, Auda intends to upgrade the drainage system. Pedestrian overpasses will be built to improve pedestrian safety, and current flyovers will be expanded to six lanes.

The project also includes planting trees beside the road. Due to a disagreement between Auda and Ahmedabad Ring Road Infrastructure Ltd (ARRIL), the project won’t start until June 2021.
