Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal announced on Friday that the Central Government’s Public Investment Board has approved a 28.8-kilometer-long metro connection between HUDA City Centre and Cyber City in Gurugram.

It would provide an efficient and environmentally friendly transportation system to the people of Haryana, particularly those living in Gurugram and its surrounding areas. This will cover the entire Gurugram city.

The chief secretary, who reviewed the performance of the Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation Limited (HMRTC) at its 50th Board of Directors meeting on Friday, stated that connectivity from Rezangla Chowk to Sector-21 Dwarka has already been approved by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and is being sent to the Central government for approval.

At the moment, Gurugram has only 17 km of metro line—the 5.3-km Yellow Line of the Delhi Metro and the 11.7-km Rapid Metro. Since 2017, when the second 6.8-kilometer section of the Rapid Metro on Golf Course Road opened to commuters, there has been no expansion of the metro service. Prior to this, the Yellow Line up to Huda City Center was completed in 2010.
