The Haryana government has authorized a Rs 750-crore elevated corridor that would connect the Dwarka Expressway with the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in two years. The new corridor will start from Vatika Chowk and ends at CPR cloverleaf. CM Nayab Singh Saini chairs the GMDA board, which envisions six-lane, three-meter-wide roadways.
A 5.5 km signal-free elevated corridor connecting the Dwarka Expressway and Delhi-Mumbai Expressway at Sohna would run from Vatika Chowk to the CPR cloverleaf, as sanctioned by the Haryana government on Wednesday.
GMDA Approves 750-Crore Elevated Road To Connect Dwarka Expressway And Delhi-Mumbai Expressway
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini chaired the GMDA board meeting in Chandigarh when the decision was made. After construction is allocated, the Rs 750-crore project—which includes Rs 130 crore for land acquisition near Vatika Chowk—will take two years to finish.
Six lanes, three on each side, will be present on the elevated corridor’s main roadway and service roads, according to the proposal.
The current SPR segment will be transformed into service lanes with access and departure points to the elevated portion, according to GMDA officials. On either side, green belts and 2.5-and 3-meter-wide cycling lanes will also be constructed.
A Signal-Free Elevated Corridor From Vatika Chowk To The CPR Cloverleaf

Originally proposed in March 2019, the project to rebuild SPR—a vital connection that now exists in a decrepit state and offers direct access between key residential sectors and commercial and industrial areas—was given administrative clearance in June 2022.
At an original cost of Rs 845.5 crore, the whole 14km section from Ghata T-point to NH-8 was to be redeveloped, with eight flyovers, six lanes of carriageway enlargement, and the addition of service lanes.
There Are Three Flyovers Between Vatika Chowk And The Cloverleaf
However, considering that the volume of traffic along the stretch wasn’t very great, questions were raised over the necessity of constructing three flyovers between Vatika Chowk and the cloverleaf. ultimately, it was proposed that this section be raised to provide a smooth journey from Delhi’s Shiv Murti to NH-8 and ultimately the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.
Then-CM Manohar Lal Khattar gave authorities instructions to rework the plan to connect SPR with the Dwarka and Delhi-Mumbai expressways at the last Authority meeting.
The GMDA board authorized the elevated route on Wednesday in addition to upgrading Tau Devi Lal Stadium into a center for sports and entertainment, increasing the city’s water supply, and increasing CCTV monitoring.

Additionally, the board approved the building of a sixth filtering unit at the Chandu Budhera water treatment plant, which would increase the facility’s capacity by 100 MLD, at a cost of Rs 78 crore. Additionally, a fourth filtration unit—worth an estimated Rs 247 crore—will be added to the Basai water facility.
GMDA Will Complete The Elevated Road Within Two Years
Concerned about the city’s flooding during the monsoon, the chief minister instructed GMDA representatives to make use of all available means to address the situation as quickly as possible. In addition, he gave the chief secretary instructions to ensure that the involved officers fulfilled their duties.
At an estimated cost of Rs 422 crore, the GMDA board also authorized the installation of 10,000 CCTV cameras at 2,000 places around the city. During the meeting, the purchase of 200 electric buses was also authorized.
