The DPR states that the metro extension linking Rezangla Chowk in Palam Vihar and Dwarka Sector 21 station will be 8.4 km long, including 5 km in Gurugram (from Palam Vihar to Sector-111) and the remaining 3.4 km in Delhi.
This corridor will feature seven stations, with an interchange planned for Rezangla Chowk in Palam Vihar to connect to the main Gurugram Metro line, which would run from Huda City Centre to Cyber City, passing through Old Gurugram and Palam Vihar.
The Haryana cabinet approved the detailed project report (DPR) of the highly delayed Metro expansion between Palam Vihar in Gurugram and Sector 21 in Dwarka on Wednesday, giving residents of Gurugram and Dwarka another reason to celebrate this Christmas season.
During the cabinet meeting on Wednesday, chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar approved the gross project cost of 1,687 crores. In which, Haryana will bear Rs. 1,541 crore of the project’s cost, with the rest funded by the Centre.
The proposed metro spur will connect to the Gurugram metro corridor at Palam Vihar station, the Airport Express line at IECC station, and the Sector 21 Dwarka metro station. According to the spokesperson, the line will also connect to the Dwarka Expressway at Sector 110-A.
Stations have been proposed at Chauma village, Sector 110-A, Sector 111, Dwarka Sector 28 and, eventually, Dwarka Sector 21. The stations will all be elevated.
The Metro extension project will require two hectares of extra property in Sector 101, and the DPR estimates that roughly 60,000 square metres of land will be required for the building of stations, platforms, entry/exit structures, power lines, and other civil works.
The application will now be sent to the Union government for the next round of approval, according to Ajit Balaji Joshi, managing director of Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation Limited (HMRTC).
