The Haryana government decided to suspend its much-criticized policy regarding constructing stilt-plus-four-story buildings in Haryana Sahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) developed sectors.
The decision would be mandatory throughout the state, only a stay in the Panchkula district. The government has also announced the formation of a committee to re-examine the issue, and until the committee’s findings are published, approvals for the construction of four-story floors in the residential sectors will be suspended.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar stated it while addressing the assembly. During the ongoing budget session, some MLAs, including B B Batra, Varun Chaudhary, Neeraj Sharma, and Aftab Ahmed, raised the issue of dislike among residents against stilt-plus-four floors in the state assembly.
The policy regarding stilt-plus-four floors will be suspended, according to the CM, and a committee will be formed in this regard to look into the matter. As a result, HSVP will not accept any new applications for the same. However, the application process for normal building plans would continue as earlier.
Following that, the department would make a final decision. This is a significant issue, and there are some associations both in favor and opposed to this scheme, and the committee will consider all aspects.
CM had not set a deadline for the decision, stating that it could take anywhere from 15 days to years. He clarified that everything would be done based on the committee’s recommendations.
Following the Supreme Court’s decision to prohibit high-rise buildings in Chandigarh, Panchkula residents began calling for a ban on stilt-plus-four-story buildings built on residential plots in HSVP-developed sectors.
Most RWAs in other districts gradually began to demand a ban on stilt-plus-four-story floors, claiming they were causing the apartmentalization of residential sectors. Under the banner of Haryana State HUDA Sectors Confederation (HSHSC), an umbrella organization, RWAs, and citizens’ welfare associations launched a state-wide signature campaign calling for an immediate ban on floor construction.
