The Dwarka Expressway, also known as the Northern Peripheral Road or NH 248-BB, is a 27.6 km long, 8-lane, controlled-access Highway that connects Dwarka in Delhi to Gurugram in Haryana.
This entire project was planned in 2006 with a budget of INR 75,000 crore and was awarded a contract in 2011. 14 kilometres of the original 18-kilometer Dwarka Expressway stretch were completed by 2016.
However, several additional kilometres of project route were added to the project scope as an extension at a later stage. Previously, various parts of the project were delayed due to land acquisition issues and tree transplantation challenges, but with the PMO’s intervention, all pending issues were resolved and land was handed over to NHAI by the end of the year.
A 3.2-kilometer-long Central Peripheral Road (CPR) was also planned to connect it to the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) at the Kherki Daula Toll Plaza on NH-48. Significantly, the project’s scope has been expanded, and the proposed Central Peripheral Road (CPR) and a 6.3 km section of Urban Extension Road-II are now part of the Highway.
