The National Capital Region Transport Corporation is constructing a massive semi-high-speed rail network in and around the Delhi NCR area. In the first phase, three flagship Regional Rapid Transit System corridors, including the Delhi-Alwar RRTS, are being built.
The train will link the national capital to nearby areas in Haryana and Rajasthan, including hubs such as Gurugram and Rewari. The Delhi-Gurugram-SNB Urban Complex RRTS corridor’s pre-construction work has begun. The 107 km-long Delhi-Alwar RRTS stretch is expected to receive approval from the centre soon.
The semi-high speed rails will travel at an average speed of 105 kilometres per hour and can reach top speeds of 160 kilometres per hour. The journey from Delhi to Alwar is expected to take approximately 104 minutes.
The project’s first phase is currently underway in Gurgaon, including the construction of 16 stations. Eleven stations will be elevated, while five will be underground. There will be four stations in Gurgaon.
The Route And Stations Of The Delhi-Alwar RRTS
The train will travel underground through INA, Munirka, and Aerocity in Delhi, beginning at Sarai Kale Khan. Udyog Vihar, Gurgaon Sector 17, Rajiv Chowk, and Kherki Daula will be stops in Gurugram. Manesar, Panchgaon, Bilaspur Chowk, Dharuhera, MBIR, Rewari, Bawal SNB, and other stations will be built in Phase 1.
Phase 1 is expected to be finished by December 2024, with the stretch operational by April 2025. The Haryana government approved the final Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Delhi-Alwar RRTS in June 2018. The preconstruction work in Gurgaon began in May 2022.
Phase 2 will see SNB to Sotanala connectivity. Shahjahanpur, Neemrana, Behror, and Sotanala will be the stations. In addition, stations at Khairthal and Alwar will be built in the final phase. The Delhi-Alwar RRTS will connect with the Delhi Metro’s Pink, Yellow, Magenta, and Airport Express lines in the first five stations.
