Nitin Gadkari, the minister of state for highways and road transport in India, has declared that the Jewar International Airport will be connected to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway within the next two years. According to him, the greenfield connectivity project, which would cost more than Rs 2,400 crore, has received government sanction.
For the 31.4 km long, 6-lane highway, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), which is the managing authority of the project, has received over a dozen offers. According to officials, the project will be awarded by this month’s end.
The minister explained in a series of tweets that the creation of greenfield connectivity from the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway to Jewar International Airport will also give access to Agra, Mathura, and western Uttar Pradesh.
In order to provide direct access to the national capital, the new link will begin at Bllabhgarh on the portion of the KMP Expressway and DND Flyway that is currently being built in Delhi. Additionally, it will give travellers an improved and quicker alternate route from Delhi to the new airport.
Another component of the Jewar link project is the Yamuna bridge, but the majority of this project is located in Haryana. The Noida International Greenfield Airport, which will be built in four phases, had its foundation stone placed at Jewar by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last year. All approach roads to the airport will be in good condition and without any stopping. To ensure that road connectivity is available when the airport is fully operational, NHAI began planning the link expressway project as soon as the government had put the work for the new airport at Jewar up for bid.
The 12 Bidders For The Jewar Airport To Delhi-Mumbai Expressway
After the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) started technical bidding today, a total of 12 construction firms have filed bids to build the 30 km Jewar Airport Link to link up the 1350 km Delhi-Mumbai Expressway project.
Through three packages, this six-lane, access-controlled spur would link the Noida International Airport at Jewar, which is still under development, with the 59-kilometer DND-Sohna Spur, which is being built by DRA Infra Construction.
The project’s alignment is nearly equal in length throughout Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, and includes a bridge over the Yamuna River. NHAI invited tenders for the Jewar Airport Link with Delhi Construction in January 2022 via Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) with a 730 day (2 year) deadline and a Rs. 1533.34 Cr* estimated cost.
Under the Bharatmala Pariyojana, the states of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana are building Greenfield Connectivity to Jewar International Airport via the DND-Faridabad Ballabhagh Bypass and the KMP Link Spur to the Delhi Mumbai Expressway.

The technical bid inspection of the bids, which might take a few months to complete, has already started. After its completion, the technically qualified bidder’s financial bids will be released to designate who has the lowest grant and most probable contractor bid.

APCO Infratech Wins Jewar Airport Link With Delhi-Mumbai Expressway
APCO Infratech is the lowest bidder to get a contract for the 30 km Jewar Airport link road to adjoin the 1350 Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. The 6-lane Access-controlled Spur by NHAI will connect the Noida International Airport with the under construction Sohna Spur by DRA Infracon in 3 packages.
The project equally falls in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh and includes a bridge over the Yamuna river. Earlier, the construction tender opened in January 2022 under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) and technical bids on July 20, 2022 with 12 bidders.

APCO’s final bid was found to be within the permissible limit (12.17% higher than NHAI’s estimate) and the contract is about to be rewarded in the coming weeks. The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway consists of 4 sections and is being constructed in 52 packages.
APCO Infratech, a Lucknow-based construction company, got the contract to build the 30-kilometer access-controlled road that would link the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway with the new international airport being built in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh.
The route will connect the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway in the National Capital Region and the DND flyway in Noida to the airport. On July 29, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) began accepting proposals for the project.
The project issued a request for proposals in January of this year with an estimated cost of Rs. 1533.34 crore through the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM). The APCO Infratech bid of Rs 1,660.50 crore was found to be the lowest of the 12 bids made for the building of the six-lane spur.
The project will be completed within two years of span, once it is started as the 40-60 cost will be borne by NHAI and builder. Apart from that the Jewar Airport is also connected with greenfield metro line from Greater Noida.
The proposed high-speed rail corridor among Delhi and Varanasi also have a station at the airport where you can reach within 21 minutes from NCR.
