Here you can get all the updates and progression regarding the construction work of the Dwarka Expressway connecting Delhi to Haryana. Traveling to Gurgaon will become easier by the end of this year. Almost 70% of the 18.9 km stretch of the Dwarka Expressway (Gurgaon part) will be completed by December 2022.

At the same time, officials from the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) stated that the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway will be completed by the middle of next year. The project is worth Rs.9000 crores, which will reduce travel in the NCR and create an alternate route for frequent travel between Gurugram and Delhi.

The Dwarka Expressway will be a total stretch of 29 km which will connect Shiv Murti on NH 48 at Mahipalpur in Delhi to Kherki Daula toll plaza in Gurgaon via several areas of Millennium City. The work on the Haryana section of the Dwarka Expressway has reached 70% completion and will be completed by December 2022.

Learn Everything About The Dwarka Expressway Hurdles

Its total distance is 29 km, of which 18.9 km is in the Haryana section and the remaining 10.1 km in Delhi. The project was announced in the year 2007 but delayed because of land acquisitions and tree transplantation hurdles.

Earlier, the NPR was intended as an alternate route between Delhi and Gurgaon and was expected to open in 2012, but land attainment issues delayed the project. There are many footraces and projects delayed due to the interference of the PM office to resolve all pending issues in 2018.

The major cause of delay was that the NHAI was likely to get land from DDA to transplant 13,000 trees for the route alignment. The work started rapidly when the remaining land was handed over by the Delhi and Haryana governments, AAI, and HSVP.

The scope of the expressway was extended when the central peripheral road (CPR) was included from the other side. The Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) will hand over the land after allotting the plots and houses to 72 outstees before demolishing the remaining houses.

After the land acquisition, the construction work started on the Haryana section in the year 2019, and in the year 2020, work started on the Delhi section. The work of the Haryana section will be completed by December this year and the Delhi section by six months next year, in 2023.

The NHAI required land in order to carry out the Dwarka Expressway project. The delay happens when the required land is not unoccupied; it is either inhabited by people or covered in jungles made of trees and other flora. To start the construction, the land requirements must be cleared. Cutting trees puts the ecosystem in danger, and when there were 13,700 of them to be removed, despite plans to plant saplings in other locations. Such procedures need official clearance, and the progress can also be monitored.

The nearby landowners were asked to remove their buildings and were offered land in other locations. To complete the pending construction of the Dwarka e-way, a total of 21 structures close to the Khekri Daula had to be taken down.

There are 16 structures on the Central Peripheral Road, also known as the CPR, that must be demolished because they prevent access from the CPR to the SPR via the Dwarka Expressway. These structures include homes, commercial sites, and the Arya Samaj building.

Similar to this, a lot of recently built structures are being demolished to make room for the Dwarka Expressway. New structures have never been simple to make because there needs to be a lot of moving and demolition. It is harmful to remove any greenery, but building the new structure is required for a progressive civilization and connectivity. The Dwarka Expressway Project, which was started ten years ago, has missed deadlines again and again. However, the Dwarka Expressway area’s real estate market is rising.

The Dwarka Expressway: A New Game Changer For Gurgaon

Traveling to Gurgaon will become easier by the end of the year, as the Haryana section of the Dwarka e-way is scheduled to open by the end of the year, and the Delhi arm is expected to be completed by next year. So, it is supposed to be completed with two years’ delay due to land acquisitions, infrastructure shifting, pandemic situation and all. A portion of an elevated road near Daultabad Chowk in Gurgaon also collapsed and needs to be rebuilt.

Initially, the project was planned as the Northern Peripheral Road (NPR) in 2006, but for a number of reasons, it was transferred to NHAI in 2016. The Dwarka Expressway is now under construction by J Kumar and Larsen & Toubro and consists of more than 20 flyovers / bridges, 2 rail overbridges or underpasses, 11 vehicle underpasses, 20 underground pedestrian crossings, and a 2.5m wide dedicated cycle/bike path.

How Dwarka Expressway Is Causing A Real Estate Boom In New Gurugram

The availability of good infrastructure, connectivity, and fundamental needs are some of the factors for buying a property. Having uninterrupted connectivity has become one of the major reasons for real development and its pricing. This is why Dwarka Expressway has become the new hotspot of Gurgaon where every homebuyer and investor wants to buy property.

It will become a perfect blend of residential, commercial, and all other amenities for fast growth and development in coming years. The Dwarka Expressway crosses through more than 20 sectors where 50+ well-known builders are working on more than 150 projects. For real estate investment, the 88, 92, 99, 104, and 110 sectors are the hotspots on this Dwarka e-way.

The Dwarka Expressway Gurgaon Project is an under construction project under the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) having multiple residential and commercial options. The NHAI is building the eight lane e-way, which consists of elevated, grounded, and underpasses to complete the 29 km road.

Taking Everything Into Account

The long delay in this project hampers the realty market but a countless number of residential and commercial projects are launched on both sides. The major obstacles are a number of lawsuits, public protests, rehabilitating ex-offenders, and land acquisitions.

More than 50% of the construction work is completed, and the Gurgaon section will be completed by August 2022. It is designed as an 8-lane road, three service lanes and a dedicated bicycle lane. So, we can say that the Dwarka Expressway became the hot destination because of its strategic location and excellent connectivity.
