Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal announced on Friday that the Central Government’s Public Investment Board has approved a 28.8-kilometer-long metro connection between HUDA City Centre and Cyber City in Gurugram.
It would provide an efficient and environmentally friendly transportation system to the people of Haryana, particularly those living in Gurugram and its surrounding areas. This will cover the entire Gurugram city.
The chief secretary, who reviewed the performance of the Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation Limited (HMRTC) at its 50th Board of Directors meeting on Friday, stated that connectivity from Rezangla Chowk to Sector-21 Dwarka has already been approved by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and is being sent to the Central government for approval.
The Detailed Route From Huda City Center To Cyber City (Rapid Metro)
The detailed project report (DPR) that has received approval, has 27 elevated stations: Huda City Centre, Sector 45, Cyber Park, Sector 47, Subhash Cowk, Sector 48, Sector 72A, Hero Honda Chowk, Udyog Vihar-6, Sector 10, Sector 37, Basai, Sector 9, Sector 7, Sector 4, Sector 5, Ashok Vihar, Sector 3, Bajghera Road, Palam Vihar Extension, Palam Vihar, Sector 23A, Sector 22, Udyog Vihar-4, Udyog Vihar-5 and Cyber City.
At Rezang La Chowk, the corridor will connect to Rapid Metro, which runs between Cyber City and Sector 56, as well as a proposed route from Palam Vihar to Dwarka Sector 21, the DPR for which was approved by the state government last month. When both lines are completed, passengers will be able to reach IGI airport via the metro grid by changing to the Airport Express line at Dwarka.
At the moment, Gurugram has only 17 km of metro line—the 5.3-km Yellow Line of the Delhi Metro and the 11.7-km Rapid Metro. Since 2017, when the second 6.8-kilometer section of the Rapid Metro on Golf Course Road opened to commuters, there has been no expansion of the metro service. Prior to this, the Yellow Line up to Huda City Center was completed in 2010.
