Expressway Tower homebuyers have demanded a structural and forensic audit of the Sector 109 affordable housing project, prompting the department of town and country planning (DTCP) to convene a meeting with the developer and investors on December 6 to discuss the issues.
Even though there has been no construction at the site for the past years, residents claim that the builder has made a demand and threatened to cancel the units if the money is not paid.
The project began in 2017 on seven acres of land, with a four year deadline. However, only 60% of the work has been completed thus far. Currently, no work is being done on the site, and the majority of homebuyers have paid nearly 90% of the flat cost.
“Overall, the quality of construction work is very poor,” said Col Naveen Hooda, who represents the homebuyers. Furthermore, the buildings’ structures have deteriorated over time. We demand a structural audit of the buildings as well as a forensic audit of allottee money.”
Senior town planner Narendra Solanki also urged homebuyers to meet with the district town planner (enforcement) to have the buildings structurally audited.
